The series is modern and set in the Serbian capital. The main plot follows the destinies of four main heroines, students: Nevena, Ruzica and Marina from different parts of Serbia come to study in the capital. Ljudmila is a Belgrader. By chance, at some point, Belgrade student dormitory will be their common home. That's where their acquaintance begins. Going through various situations that student life in the metropolis will bring them, the girls will become friends for a lifetime. As the story progresses, we meet a diverse gallery of characters surrounding the four main heroines, while in the background, parallel to the main plot, the series follows the families of our heroines and their individual destinies. Each of the girls is inseparably tied to home, so they will bring a part of their privacy into their new student life. One of the protagonists in the story becomes the city of Belgrade itself: it will actually shape the destiny of all of them. Following the lives of the girls, the series will bring us closer to and depict their perception and experience of Belgrade, a city that becomes home to anyone who wants to live, work, and find their place under the sun in the metropolis. Without highlighting negative social phenomena but rather focusing on the beauty and excitement of young days, "Surviving Belgrade" tends to be a smooth, positive story about young people in a big city, their hopes, dreams, and prospects.
